The Nanticoke River is one of Maryland's Eastern Shore hidden gems, flowing through Wicomico and Dorchester counties before emptying into Tangier Sound and the lower Chesapeake Bay. Channel catfish inhabit the deeper bends and holes, and blue crab populations are healthy in the lower tidal reaches.

Salisbury, the largest city on the Eastern Shore, provides full services and convenient access to the upper Nanticoke, while the small historic towns of Vienna and Sharptown offer quiet launch points closer to the river's most scenic stretches.
