Douglas Lake is a 28,420-acre TVA reservoir on the French Broad River in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, offering 513 miles of shoreline across three East Tennessee counties and serving as the gateway between the productive farmland of the Tennessee Valley and the soaring peaks of the Smokies. With depths reaching 150 feet near the dam, this highly fertile lake experiences significant seasonal drawdowns that expose vast mud flats in winter but concentrate fish into predictable patterns that knowledgeable anglers exploit with great success.
