Stonewall Jackson Lake is a 2,650-acre reservoir in Lewis County that has developed into one of West Virginia's finest bass fishing destinations since its impoundment in 1988. The lake's relatively young age means abundant submerged timber and structure that concentrate largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill throughout the reservoir. The bass fishery is managed with an 18-inch minimum size limit that has produced a quality population of fish in the 3- to 5-pound class.

Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park provides a modern marina, boat ramp, and the Stonewall Resort, making this one of the most well-appointed fishing destinations in West Virginia. Musky have been stocked to create a trophy fishery, and the lake's fertile waters grow these predators quickly. Crappie fishing is outstanding around the standing timber during spring, and channel catfish provide reliable summer action in the deeper channels. The lake's 82 miles of wooded shoreline remain largely undeveloped, creating a peaceful mountain fishing experience within easy reach of Interstate 79.
