About Wilson Lake

Wilson Lake is a premier smallmouth bass destination in northwest Alabama, formed by Wilson Dam on the Tennessee River. At 15,930 acres with 172 miles of shoreline, this TVA reservoir is known for its deep, clear water and rocky structure that creates ideal habitat for trophy-sized smallmouth bass. The dam tailrace area is especially productive for both smallmouth and striped bass.

The lake's rocky banks, gravel points, and ledges support an outstanding fishery that draws anglers from across the Southeast. Largemouth bass thrive in the lake's shallower bays and grass beds, while sauger and catfish offer consistent action in the river channel, particularly during winter months.

Florence, Muscle Shoals, and Sheffield — collectively known as the Shoals area — provide full services for visiting anglers. The region combines excellent fishing access with rich music heritage and a growing culinary scene.
