About Deer Creek Reservoir
Deer Creek Reservoir is a 2,965-acre impoundment in the scenic Heber Valley, positioned along the Provo River corridor between Heber City and Provo Canyon. The reservoir has developed into one of Utah's top walleye fisheries, with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources managing the population to produce quality catches of fish in the 18- to 24-inch range. Largemouth bass provide warm-water action in the shallower bays and around the abundant docks and riprap along the shoreline.
Deer Creek State Park provides a well-maintained boat ramp and day-use facilities at this popular Wasatch Front fishing destination. Rainbow and brown trout inhabit the deeper, cooler sections of the reservoir and are particularly active in spring and fall. Yellow perch are abundant and offer excellent panfishing opportunities, especially during the winter ice fishing season. The reservoir's convenient location just 45 minutes from Salt Lake City and its beautiful mountain setting in the Heber Valley make it one of the most frequently visited fishing lakes in Utah.
