About Strawberry Reservoir
Strawberry Reservoir is Utah's premier trout fishery, a 17,164-acre mountain reservoir sitting at 7,600 feet elevation in the Wasatch Mountains east of Heber City. The reservoir produces rainbow trout and cutthroat trout of exceptional size and quality, with fish averaging 16 to 20 inches and trophy specimens exceeding 10 pounds caught each season. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources manages the fishery with special regulations designed to produce quality over quantity, and the results speak for themselves.
Strawberry Reservoir features several well-maintained boat ramps and a marina, along with campgrounds and day-use facilities operated by the U.S. Forest Service. Kokanee salmon add diversity to the fishery and provide both a forage base for large trout and a fun light-tackle target during their fall spawning run. Shore fishing is productive along the dam face and rocky points, while boat anglers find success trolling and jigging over the deeper basins. The reservoir's high elevation means a shorter ice-free season, but ice fishing is extremely popular and productive when the lake freezes over each winter.
